Cia Durante
In the series Light Actions, Durante continues her ongoing investigation into the effects of light on our experience of a photographic image. The artist’s process is very performative and the images are made when she moves a light source in front of the camera during a series of long exposures. Playful and energetic, she aims to use to light to produce a charged aesthetic and animate the inanimate to an almost magical effect.
Artist Background
Cia Durante studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art before going on to complete an MA in photography at the Royal College of Art in 2005. Durante is based in London and has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally.
Durante’s work shows a concern for doubling, light as an object, and an interest in public and sacred spaces.
