Spencer Tunick

Tunick’s photographs are documents of the large-scale performances that he orchestrates. In these, the artist asks volunteers to appear naked at a specified location where he photographs the assembled mass of people. He has photographed gatherings all over the world from Gateshead to Mexico City. Some of the performances take place inside well-known buildings (Selfridges on Oxford Street for example) while others are located outside, in capital cities around the world. Tunick takes a humorous look at the precarious place of the individual within the wider group.
