Title: Low lying cloud formation captured
Size: 114x90cm
Axel Antas
Antas intervenes within the natural landscape and photographs his strange additions before removing them entirely.
This approach is evident in his series of man-made cloud formations, where he uses a hidden smoke machine to create clouds within the foliage of Epping forest. The strange objects look both at odds with, and at home in their new environment, giving the work quite a surreal atmosphere.
Artist Background
Finish photographer, Axel Antas graduated from Goldsmiths College in 2000 and lives and works in London. He is represented by the young emerging West End gallery, Rokeby, who will be exhibiting his work at this year’s Zoo Art Fair in October.
Antas uses tricks and games within his work in order to get the viewer to re-look at the natural environment.
