The series Like Father, Like Son is made up of images of the interaction between a father and son going about their daily lives. However, upon closer inspection all is not as it seems and the son in the photographs is revealed to be a child mannequin used as a prop alongside the artist. Poignant and unsettling, Duggan aims to question the importance of these archetypal human relationships.
Artist Background
Irish artist Joe Duggan has exhibited his work in the UK and internationally, recently having shows in Rome and Antwerp. He lives and works in London and is nominated for this year’s prestigious Allied Irish Bank Artist Award.
Duggan produces images that appear at first sight to be snapshots of ordinary life but are then revealed as carefully staged dioramas and sets.
