Joe Duggan
The series Family Man is an extension of Duggan’s previous project Like Father, Like Son. Using backdrops, mannequins and props he sets the stage for imaginary events to occur in which he can interact. Objects and people co-exit in the images until it becomes unclear just which elements are fabricated. In this work Duggan is investigating our perception of the perfect family ideal and all the structures and products associated with it.
Artist Background
Irish artist Joe Duggan has exhibited his work in the UK and internationally, recently having shows in Rome and Antwerp. He lives and works in London and is nominated for this year’s prestigious Allied Irish Bank Artist Award.
Duggan produces images that appear at first sight to be snapshots of ordinary life but are then revealed as carefully staged dioramas and sets.
