Title: Dog Scaffolding Sculpture (Puppy)
Size: 93x106cm (approx)
Ben Long
The Great Traveling Art Exhibition is an ongoing public art project that Long started in 2001 which attempts to engage an audience who might otherwise have little or no involvement in the visual arts.
For the first phase of the project the artist has created a series of drawings by removing the dirt that collects on the rear shutters of haulage trucks. Made with meticulous detail, they are completely incongruous with their environment.
The second stage of the project sees the artist creating ambitious structures out of scaffolding poles and displaying them at different sites around the city. Long’s photographs stand as a record to these mischievous interventions in the daily running of things.
